Abstract: Based on time series data from 1990 to 2016, an empirical analysis examined the factors affecting China's agricultural economic growth by developing a vector auto-regressive model (VAR), impulse response function (IRF) and variance decomposition function (VD). The results show that Chinese agriculture lacks long-term support factor. During the study period, an increase in the fixed asset investment, the total agricultural machinery power, the amount of chemical fertilizer used, and the education level of the rural labor force contributed to agricultural economic growth. However, an increase in the size of the agricultural labor force and in the total area under cultivation was not conducive to agricultural economic growth. In addition, China's agricultural economic growth was overly dependent on financial investment, while the contribution of other factors was relatively small. China's agricultural economy clearly has experienced extensive development. Hence, in the next development period, the Chinese government needs to increase agricultural fixed asset investment and strengthen its oversight. In addition, the government needs to strengthen its support of agricultural mechanization, set reasonable limits on the use of chemical fertilizers and, more importantly, focus on improvement in the quality of agricultural products and the accumulation of human capital.

Abstract: The quality of internal audit plays a significant role in enhancing organizational performance of public sector bureaus. So, the objective of this study was to examine the effect of internal audit quality on organizational performance of public sector selected bureaus in southern Ethiopia. To this end, the researcher employed quantitative research approach with explanatory research design where the effect caused by the independent variable on the dependent variable is observed through regression analysis. The primary data was collected using structured questionnaire from 112 respondents out of total 148 respondent’s selected using simple random sampling technique from bureaus of southern Ethiopia. Then, both descriptive and inferential statistics analysis (multiple linear regression) have been done through SPSS version 21.0 and E-views version 9 in order to get the reliable research findings. Consequently, the result of regression analysis showed that, four variables such as independency of internal audit (positive), competency of internal audit staff (positive), management support (positive), and formal mandate of internal audit (positive) and statistically significant out of eight variables incorporated in the model. Whereas, other explanatory variables like objectivity, internal audit standard, competent leadership and unrestricted access to audit evidence were not statistically significant respectively. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher forwarded possible recommendations for bureaus to work on independency of internal audit, competency of internal audit staff, management support, and formal mandate of internal audit due to the fact that they are statistically significant and has positive influence in improving internal audit quality on one hand and organizational performance of bureaus on the other hand.

Abstract: Calcium looping is a widely used CO2 capture technology, where calcium oxide (CaO) is used as a sorbent. However, it has many drawbacks such as expensive raw material and reduction in sorbent capacity over multiple cycles. This study is aimed at developing economic as well as environment friendly sorbents for CO2 capturing. For this purpose, chicken eggshells were collected from household municipal waste as a CaO sorbent for CO2 capture. The eggshell sorbent was characterized using different techniques such as SEM-EDS, XRD and TGA. Three different organic acids were used to improve the conversion of eggshell sorbents i.e., lactic, oxalic and tartaric acid. The results showed that one out of three acids i.e., lactic acid (ES LA-10%) showed improved conversion and stability over a period of 20 cycles as compared to other acids. In terms of CaO conversion ES LA-10% displayed the maximum performance of 47.8% and had improved cyclic stability during 20 cycles. Hence, this study showed that modifying sorbent (eggshells) by using acid is a better sorbent in comparison with other natural and synthetic sorbent, therefore reducing waste and cost simultaneously.
